Summary

The article examines the initial stages of implementing a project aimed at preventing torture in the Ukrainian penitentiary system. It describes the managerial launch and staffing procedures introduced to carry out the project involving inspectors for the rights of convicted persons.

The article emphasizes that the project is intended to eradicate ill-treatment of prisoners. The authors argue that the introduction of rights inspectors can improve the protection of inmates’ rights. The article also analyzes the challenges and difficulties faced by the penitentiary system during this process.
